Championships

All championships are managed by the Championship Team Manager.

Eastern Riverina Zone Championships 

The Zone Championships are the first step towards competing at the State Championships. Temora Little Athletics Centre is one centre in the Eastern Riverina Zone.
Under 7s do not progress the Region 4 Championships. Those who achieve a 1st, 2nd or 3rd in placing in an event will receive a State medal

The Eastern Riverina Championships are usually held on the 1st weekend in December venue TBC.


Region 4 Championships

The Regional Championship are the second step towards competing at the State Championships. Athletes qualify to compete in the Regional Championships at the Zone Championships. Athletes compete for Eastern Riverina Zone which is one of four zones that make up Region 4 of the Little Athletics Association of NSW.

Where: TBC

As Under 8 athletes do not progress to the State Championships, so those who achieve 1st, 2nd or 3rd placings in events will receive State medals.

The athletes in age groups from Under 9 to Under 17 who achieve 1st and 2nd placings in events qualify to compete in those events at the NSW State Championships. Under certain circumstances, additional athletes may also qualify to compete at the NSW State Championships. All athletes who place 8th or higher receive a certificate.


State Track & Field Championships

At the State Championships the level of competition is usually extremely high; for most athletes, reaching the State Championships is a major achievement.  
The qualifiers from the 8 regions of NSW will compete at the NSW State Championships.

Date:  March 2024
Where: Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre (SOPAC), Homebush. 

Medals are awarded to the first 3 placegetters.
All finalist receive certificates and all participants receive tracksuit patches.
 

Australian Little Athletics Championship

At the end of the last day of the State Championship, a team of 22 Under 13's is selected to compete at these national titles. Two Under 15 boys and two Under 15 girls are also selected to compete in a Multi Event competition held at the same time. The Australian Championships are held in a different state each year, over one day in April. There are several weeks of training and social functions for the State team prior to the Australian Championships. 

State Multi-Event Championships

The Multi Event Championships are run along the lines of an Olympic Decathlon or Heptathlon event with points allocated for an athlete’s performance in each of the component events. All registered Little Athletes from Under 7 to Under 17 are eligible to enter. This event is held in early March with entries closing early February. Information on venue and events can be sought at the centre if you are interested.
 

State Cross Country & Road Walk Championships

The State Cross Country & Road Walk Championships are held on the first Sunday of July each year.  The event is held alternatively at a Sydney Metropolitian or country area each years. As this is held when Temora Little Athletics is in recess it will be up to the athletes to register themselves for the event.  More information please visit the Little Athletics Association of NSW website www.laansw.com.au  for details and to download an entry sheet.
 

Championship notes

 Uniform: All selected athletes must wear Temora Centre uniform. The uniform is:  Temora singlet top with plain black shorts, or  Temora crop top with plain black shorts or sports briefs. All shorts or sports briefs must be full length (not bikini style). All shorts must be plain black with NO logos, stripes or other brand identification visible. Board shorts and cargo pants are not acceptable. During actual competition, uniform tops must be tucked in. Centre uniform can only be purchased at the Centre. 

Competition Numbers: All athletes must wear their own registration number on the front of their top,  their correct age patch on the front left hand side of their top or shorts and the current sponsor's patch on the front right hand side of their top.  

Footwear: Shoes are compulsory at all Championships. Spikes must NOT be worn by  any athlete from U7 -U10 age group
