BACKGROUND

The concept of Little Athletics was the brain child of Trevor Billingham and the first competition started in Victoria in the 1960’s.  LAA N.S.W. commenced in 1970 and present day membership is over 40,000 athletes in 200 centres throughout the state. The Association is controlled by a Board of Management made up of voluntary workers who hold their positions for a maximum of 2 years before seeking re-election. The Association also has full time salaried staff.

Temora Little Athletics Centre Inc.requested affiliation with Little Athletics on the 10th of October, 1980 (40 years ago). Temora Little Athletics Centre is one of the centres in the Eastern Riverina Zone.  Eastern Riverina is one of six zones that make up Region 4 of the Little Athletics Association of NSW.

In 2021 Temora Litlle Athletics Inc changed thier name to Temora Athletics Club Inc to reflect the affiliation with ANSW to become a senior club. Now athletes of all ages can register and compete in the many competitions on offer.

Temora Athletics Club Inc. is an incorporated body, governed by an elected committee. Meetings of the committee are held once per month and parents of athletes are welcome to attend.

Family, Fun and Fitness are the three main objectives of the Little Athletics movement. Boys and girls are offered a wide variety of athletic events in a happy environment with the emphasis on achieving personal bests.

TIMES, DATES AND LOCATION

Wednesday afternoon competition commences at 5.00pm and usually concludes around 6.30-7.00pm. 

ELIGIBILITY

Athletes are divided into age groups. Age groups are based on the age of the athlete in the next Calendar year from the year of registration. eg. 2023/2024 season the age is determined as of 31st December 2024.

Please note, that for all new registrations, proof of age is required at the time of enrolment.

WET WEATHER ROUTINE

If Athletics is unable to be held at Nixon Park due to unfavourable weather conditions parents will be informed on our Facebook page, and the schools will also be informed.  This will be organised by Emma Bowley and Greg Wiencke.

CENTRE MEETINGS

Meetings are held every month and are open to all parents who wish to attend. The future of the Club, as well as the day to day operations is discussed at these meetings. If you are interested in the running of the club, or wish to make any constructive and useful suggestions, your attendance will be most welcome. Please ask one of the Executive for the location of the meetings as it varies from time to time.
